Widespread high temperatures


Monday
High pressure influences the north of Europe, whilst slack low pressure affects the south. Thundery conditions again for southern Europe, but plenty of warm sunshine again for northern countries. Temperatures widely very warm, peaking close to 30C in Portugal and also south-western France. A scattering of afternoon storms for Spain and Portugal. Thunderstorms breaking out more widely for southern France, the western Alps and down the spine of Italy. Thundery also for Greece and the southern Balkans.
High pressure maintains dry weather for northern France, the Low Countries, Germany and much of eastern Europe, highs 23 to 26C. Southern Scandinavia also stays dry and sunny. A cold front moves across northern Norway and Sweden, bringing rain, or snow on the mountains, which also extends to northern Finland. Very warm for the east & south of Sweden, up to 25C.


Tuesday
Little change to the prevailing weather pattern across Europe. Extensively thundery for the southern half of the continent. Portugal and northern Spain likely dry, and very warm again. Thunderstorms breaking out widely by afternoon for southern and central Spain, southern France and the Alps. Central Italy may escape, but the south of Italy will likely see heavy downpours. Thunderstorms again for the southern Balkans and Greece .
Isolated showers for north-west France, but much of central-northern Europe stays dry and sunny. Reaching the mid to high 20s Celsius for the Low Countries and Germany. High temperatures too for eastern Europe, but some thundery rain may break out for Poland and Slovakia. High pressure centred over eastern Scandinavia produces extensive sunshine for Norway, Sweden and Finland. Very warm again for southern Sweden.
