Very heavy rain and thunderstorms affect the central Mediterranean


Monday
A few showers persist over the far north of Spain but it's a mostly dry, bright and cool day for the Iberian Peninsula. Heavy thundery downpours continue for the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia and western parts of Italy. A few light showers affect eastern parts of Greece and western parts of Turkey but otherwise it's a dry and bright day for the eastern Mediterranean.
A band of rain pushes across the northwestern half of France, the Low Countries and into northwestern Germany on Monday. Staying dry over southeastern parts of France and Germany though cloud does increase for these areas through the day. Showers clear away from eastern Poland leaving a dry and bright day here. Dry and bright too for Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary though a few spells of snow may affect The Alps later.
The day starts dry and bright for Denmark though cloud builds and rain moves in from the west later. A band of sleet and snow moves northward across southern Norway and central Sweden. Snow affecting northern regions too and northern Finland. A cloudy day for the Baltic States with scattered showers developing at times.

Tuesday
A mostly dry and bright day for Spain and Portugal though isolated showers continue for the far north of Spain and a heavier pulse of rain moves into the northwest later. Showers clear away from the Balearic Islands while heavy rain and thunderstorms continue for Corsica, Sardinia and Italy and spread east into The Balkans and western Greece. Staying dry but cloudy for eastern Greece. Dry and bright for Turkey.
Showery outbreaks of rain affect France and the Low Countries. These easing through the afternoon. Mostly dry but cloudy for Germany though scattered showers affect the far west of the country. Heavy rain spreads north across Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and western parts of Hungary and Slovakia. This falls as snow over The Austrian Alps while Switzerland is mostly dry with just the odd isolated snow shower.
A wet and breezy day for Denmark while Finland and the Baltic States are mostly dry and fine. Rain arrives here later through the evening. Southerly winds drive bands of rain, sleet and snow across Norway and Sweden though there will be some good spells of sunshine here too.
