Often Unsettled
Rather cold

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 20th January 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Low pressure dominates to bring a lot of unsettled weather with some significant snowfall across northern Europe.

Saturday
Low pressure dominates across much of Europe into Saturday, with a number of low pressure systems bringing a risk of wet weather across France, into more central areas of Europe, including Germany and into eastern areas of Europe as well. Unsettled conditions dominate across Norway, Finland and Sweden with plenty of snow here too. Best of the weather through Saturday will be across Spain and Portugal as high pressure dominates just to the west of Iberia.

Sunday
Into Sunday and not a great deal of change is expected. Low pressure will bring milder, wetter and windier weather across much of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland through the day, while low pressure develops across Italy and central areas of the Med, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and also perhaps with some significant snow to parts of the Alps. Cold and showery weather continues across much of Scandinavia, including Norway and Finland, while high pressure located just to the west of Portugal means further fine weather across Iberia where some of the best of the weather will continue to be.
