Cold winds around the Baltic


Saturday
A large area of high pressure centred over the Low Countries brings a lot of dry weather to continental Europe. A gentle easterly flow across Iberia brings warm continental air to western Spain and Portugal, temperatures into the upper 20s Celsius. Lots of sunshine across France and Italy, highs 17 to 21C, warmest in south-west France. Some fog patches in central Europe and the Low Countries.
Thunderstorms over the central Mediterranean may affect Sicily. Dry and fairly cool for south-eastern Europe, but very warm in Cyprus, 25C. A cool north-westerly breeze for eastern Europe. Low pressure is centred over Finland and north-west Russia. Fairly cloudy in Germany, temperatures 12C. A scattering of showers for Poland, the Ukraine and Baltic states, cool at 8 to 10C. Blustery winds for Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Showers in northern Norway, snow over the mountains. Lighter winds in Finland will make showers slow moving, chilly at 5C.


Sunday
Plenty of dry weather continues across the continent. High pressure remains centred over Britain and the Low Countries. Low pressure over Russia promotes a chilly north-westerly breeze into eastern countries. A warm pattern for south-western Europe, temperatures 22C in south-west France and northern Spain, up to 27C for Portugal and the Andalucia region. Plenty of sunshine across the Mediterranean, Italy and Greece . A few thundery showers to the south of Italy. Staying warm for Cyprus.
Dry and bright for northern France. Risk of fog patches for the Low Countries and Germany, generally cloudy. A fresh easterly breeze for the Alps. Scattered showers for Poland, more frequent showers for the Baltic states, Belarus and Ukraine. Largely dry across Scandinavia, although some drizzly rain may reach western Norway. Cloudy for Finland, but sunshine in Sweden, cool at 4 to 6C.
