A fair start to Tuesday across much of England and Wales, some sunny intervals with the best of these in the southeast and East Anglia. More cloud further north and west with a brisk southeast wind in Scotland and Ireland as a band of rain passes south through Scotland and Ireland. This area of rain then crossing northern England, southwest England and Wales as the morning progresses, eventually passing through the rest of England by evening, although only light in the south. Brighter, breezy weather follows to Scotland, Ireland and northern England, although some heavy showers developing in the north and northwest of Scotland and northern coasts of Northern Ireland. Highs at 20C in southeast England but more widely 13 to 15C although just 10C in northwest Scotland.

Ant remaining rain clears from southeast England this evening to leave plenty of dry weather and clearing skies. Some showers continue in northern and western Scotland as well as coasts of northwest England and the north and west of Ireland. Breezy in the northern half of the British Isles. Light winds further south could allow a cold night in parts of central England and Wales, lows near 4C here, but more generally 5 to 8C.

Low pressure north of Scotland on Wednesday. A breezy day for northern England, Scotland and northern parts of Ireland. Frequent showers here, some of them heavy in the north and west, fewer of them in the east. Sunny spells between the showers and a risk of gales in the far north. Bright for the rest of England and Wales, generally dry too. Cloudier but fewer showers over the rest of Ireland. Top temperatures at 18C in the south, 10C in northern Scotland.

Low pressure stays to the north of Scotland on Thursday. Further showers for Scotland, some of the showers heavy in the north and west where they could merge to longer periods of rain at times. Scattered showers in Northern Ireland and further showers in northwest England too. Brighter and drier for the rest of England and Wales as well as the southern half of Ireland. Decent spells of sunshine in these areas. Staying windy in northern Scotland. Highs at 11C in northern Scotland, 18C in southern England, 14 to 16C in western areas and feeling cool.
